A story of wellness
Hi! I'm the owner of Wellthy Vybes and I'm so excited to be on this wellness journey with you! I say "we" because wellness should be a never-ending part of life that we constantly work towards and learn about. I'd love to share with you a couple of major events on my wellness journey.
After I gave birth to my youngest daughter in 2007, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. When I was prescribed a life-long medication, I decided to change my lifestyle and try a natural approach. I knew I didn't want to take an expensive medicine that honestly didn't do much anyway, so why not? I did a cleanse, changed my diet, started a vitamin and supplement regimen and regular exercise. Guess what? I completely eliminated the need for medication, and can easily control occasional flare ups...naturally!
In 2013, I decided to start practicing yoga. It was great! I felt good and loved the classes I attended, plus I had some amazing leaders along my path whose words always inspired me. In late 2018, during a rather low and depressive spiral, I remembered a teacher who once told me I should think about teaching yoga. Knowing I was the only one that could get myself out of the funk, I thought I didn't have anything to lose and signed up for the first training I could find. I have to admit that I had pretty low expectations for what teacher training would do for me, but it turned out to be the most fulfilling thing I've ever done for myself. I am forever changed! I have never felt more at home in my body, mind and spirit, and my thirst for knowledge is insatiable! In August of 2019 I became a "Certified Badass" as a Rage Yoga instructor, during quarantine I became certified to teach Yoga with HIIT and completed Yoga, Purpose and Action Leadership Intensive with Off the Mat, Into the World, plus I constantly seek out inspiring personal development books and podcasts to help me on my journey.
These are just a couple reasons why I want to share the gift of wellness with as many people as possible! We all have stories to tell and can learn so much from each other, but diversity is tantamount. My dream is to help as many people as possible from as many walks of life as possible! Wellness shouldn't be a privilege, but a right for ALL people. Some ways I'm working towards being more inclusive is by offering sliding scale memberships, looking for ways to incorporate difficult social issues into my teaching and also encouraging community outreach with Park Yoga for a Cause. Plus, I'm always open to suggestions to make Wellthy Vybes as diverse and inclusive as possible!
Lastly, I want to offer my services to help you maintain your wellness journey wherever you are in the world! Being away from home should never be an excuse to stop "wellthy" living. I have worked in the travel industry for most of the last 20 years in planning, technology and risk, so by combining my experience in travel and wellness I want to provide you the tools and advice to help you stay safe, healthy and well on the road.
